Katie Coulson was regarded as one of the premier defensive players in Canada.  She was the inaugural recipient of the OUA Defensive Player of the Year award in 2001, and was recognized with the award again in 2003.  A complete player over her years in Maroon, Coulson could score, pass, rebound and steal and impacted the game in many ways.  A two-time team captain, she helped power the Marauders into the OUA final in 2001, and in 2003 she led McMaster to its second OUA Championship.  During that 2002-03 season,  Coulson was also named a First-Team OUA All-Star and was the recipient of McMaster's Edna Guest Award.   In each of her last two seasons, she was named the Marauder Team MVP.  A star off the court also, Katie was a four-time Marauder Scholar and a four-time CIS Academic All-Canadian. A beacon of intensity and leadership, she set a high standard for her teammates over her varsity career.
