Katie vaulted onto the university gymnastics scene and made an instant impression. She was a member of the Mac Gymnastics Team from 1984-88, and qualified for OWIAA and CIAU championship competition in each of her four years. Katie was a member of the 1986 OWIAA Championship Team, and accumulated six medals in OWIAA and CIAU competition. In 1988 she was awarded the Dr. Edna Guest Award, and was named as the Gymnastics MVC in both 1986 and 1988. Upon leaving Mac, she continued competitive gymnastics for another year, and pursued her Ph.D. in biology. She is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Carleton University.
