In three years of varsity competition, Jack won his letter in football, hockey and track. He was considered one of Canada's best hurdlers and won the 1933 Chancellor's medal for his all-round performance at track and field. After graduation, he continued his interest in Mac Athletics as a builder, playing an important role in the appointments of Ivor Wynne and Les Prince.
