Irene was the ultimate "good sport" at McMaster; very good at many sports. In addition to playing varsity tennis, she was also integral to the Mac squad who captured the WIAU basketball title in 1967-68. To conclude her brilliant multi-sport career, Irene was captain of the 1970-71 women's Intercollegiate Ice Hockey champions. She also played intramural badminton and field hockey. Irene was a deserving recipient of the Edna Guest Award in 1971.
