Entering the Hall of Fame as a builder, Dr. Janice Harvey is an accomplished sport medicine physician who completed her medical training at McMaster University, and for more than three decades, served McMaster students and varsity athletes in a number of roles. 

Dr. Harvey is widely recognized as a pioneer in the sport medicine field at McMaster, as she was the first primary care physician specializing in sports medicine to work in a full-time capacity on campus, seeing athletes both at the Student Wellness Centre and the Sports Injury Clinic since its opening.  

Dr. Harvey provided exceptional service and compassionate care to thousands of varsity athletes in both the clinical and field settings, while serving as an educator, role model and mentor to countless students and sport medicine fellows.

Her expertise has been on display through national and international experience, she was a member of the medical team at the Commonwealth Games ’94, the Chief Medical Officer of the World University Games in Italy ’97 and the World Cycling Championships ‘04. Dr. Harvey was appointed as the Canadian Delegate to the World University Sport Federation (FISU) in 2000, and still serves in this role today.
