CARLA (CHIN) BAKER ‘90
Soccer

While Carla was only with the women’s Soccer team for two seasons she made a major impact. She earned a CIAU First Team All-Canadian award in her rookie season (1987). She also led the team to a CIAU silver medal, where she was named the tournament MVP. Carla continued her soccer career as a member of the Canadian Women’s National Team from 1986-1998. Her national team highlights include two CONCACAF Championship appearances (1991 and 1994 runner-ups to team USA) and participation in the 1995 Women’s World Cup Championships in Sweden where she started all the matches. Carla’s love and passion for the game continued in the United States as she worked as an Assistant Coach at Florida International University, Cornell University (1991 Ivy League Champions) and the University of Notre Dame (1995 National Champions), as well as Head Soccer Coach at the University of Iowa.
