A two-sport athlete who divided her time between the pitch and the rink, Annette Shiels spent four impactful seasons in maroon from 1988-92.. She enjoyed her biggest successes with the soccer Marauders, helping the team to an Ontario silver medal in 1988 and being named an OWIAA All-Star in 1988 and 1991. The 1991 season saw Shiels also named as a CIS All-Canadian, and she was a key contributor to McMaster capturing the Ontario championship, before moving on to the CIS tournament where the team won its first National title, beating McGill 8-2 in the Gold Medal match. Showing her athletic versatility, Shiels also played for Canada's national women's rugby team.
