A five-year starter who continuously grew on both ends of the court, Guiney was revered as a forward with great hands, that allowed him to score effortlessly. From the outset of his career, his success was evident – being named to the 2000-01 OUA West all-rookie team. Helping the Marauders reach the CIS championship in his fourth season, Guiney had a year to remember, becoming just the fourth Marauder at the time to be named to an all-Canadian team in 2004. 
 
Guiney wrapped up his Marauder career as one of the best to don the Maroon. Currently ranked 10^th all-time in the OUA for most rebounds in a career, Guiney was a two-time OUA West first team all-star, OUA West Player of the Year, CIS first team all-Canadian, and an Ivor Wynne Male Athlete of the Year Co-recipient.
