Recognized as the first McMaster team to win a national championship, the Marlins had a dream season under Hall of Fame Coach Les Prince.   The Marlins completed an undefeated conference schedule in the Ontario-Quebec conference and defeated Laval University 5-3 and 7-4 in a two-game total goals final series to advance to the inaugural CIAU men’s hockey championship tournament in Kingston, Ontario.  In the national semi-finals, McMaster edged St. Francis Xavier University 4-3 in sudden-death overtime, before beating the University of British Columbia 3-2 to capture the Canadian university title.

Along with Coach Prince, team trainer Pinky Lewis and four players from the team have been inducted into the McMaster Hall of Fame.
