All-Canadian performances from two of their senior runners helped the Marauder men to a fourth-place finish at the CIS Cross Country Championships in Guelph on Saturday, while the women finished sixth.
The fourth-year leader of the women's team, Maddy McDonald received the CIS Community Service Award at the conclusion of the race, in recognition of her extensive work with McMaster Athletes Care and several other charitable endeavors.
Finishing eighth overall and scoring seventh, Blair Morgan made the most of his final race as a Marauder, providing the low post for the men and narrowly missing the All-Canadian first team. Teammate Connor Darlington followed in 12th to also crack the All-Canadian roster, while Taylor Forbes (15), Austen Forbes (42) and Luke Charbonneau (50) completed the scoring for the Marauders.
Continuing the back-and-forth battle that McMaster has been fighting with Windsor for the past few seasons, the Marauders out-pointed the Lancers by just two places to finish second among OUA teams at the event and fourth overall with a total of 121 points.
On the women's side, McDonald was once again the low post for McMaster, placing 29th as the team's leading scorer. Behind her, fellow veterans Chelsea Mackinnon (38) and Gabrielle Foran (47) crossed second and third, while Emily Nowak (48) and Maddie Benjamin (51) completed the scoring for the Marauders.
McMaster finished the women's 6km race with a team total of 195 points, good for sixth in the team standings.
