McMaster's women won bronze, while the men finished fourth at the OUA Water Polo Championships hosted by the Carleton Ravens from Friday to Sunday.

The Marauder women rode a six-goal third quarter to victory in the bronze-medal match on Sunday, defeating the Queen's Gaels 11-8 in a familiar matchup. Veteran Chanessa Ryan was selected as an OUA All-Star for her role in McMaster's three-day performance that saw the Marauders finish 2-1.

Rookie Colin Colterjohn, after a summer stint with the Canadian national junior team, was named as McMaster's sole representative on the men's OUA All-Star team, after his team faltered in a 15-5 loss to Ottawa in the Sunday's bronze-medal match.

The weekend began with promise for the Marauders, as the men opened their account with a 19-11 win over the Queen's Gaels on Friday. Their win was secured by an eight-goal second quarter, during which Nick Davies scored three of his team-high five goals on the night. Veteran Jack Tang had a goal in each quarter of the high-scoring affair.

Saturday was the jam-packed middle of the tournament, and McMaster's women were busiest with two matches over the course of the day. They opened the event against the Ottawa Gee-Gees, ultimately dropping a close 8-6 decision despite a spirited fourth quarter in which Ainslie Colterjohn and Jordan Brydges scored to bring the team within two.

The second half of their doubleheader came against fellow Ottawan team Carleton, and saw the Marauders emerge victorious in a 12-7 decision. McMaster led by just a single goal entering the fourth quarter at 7-6, but exploded for five goals in the final period -- two each from Ryan and Colterjohn and a single from Bryn Sutherland -- to pull away.

McMaster's men, meanwhile, dropped a lopsided match against the eventual champions, the Toronto Varsity Blues, by a 14-goal margin. John Holbrook provided a bright spot with a pair of goals in the 18-4 loss.

Brydges played the starring role in Sunday's bronze medal match for the Marauder women, scoring six goals and reaching the scoresheet in all four quarters of McMaster's victory. She had two goals in the first and third quarters, and one each in the first and fourth.
