MEN'S VOLLEYBALL HOLDS AT NO. 2 AFTER WEEKEND WIN, CROSS-COUNTRY STAYS PUT

It was no surprise on Tuessday, when the Marauder men's volleyball team was confirmed as the country's second-best seed for another week. Meanwhile, the men's and women's cross country teams stayed put, a week before the CIS Championships in London.

McMaster remained in the place it has occupied since the second top-ten poll of the season, after sweeping the Toronto Varsity Blues in its only match of the weekend on Saturday. The win continued the Marauders' spotless start to the OUA season after three matches played. That season continues on Friday, when the Marauders welcome the Ryerson Rams to the Burridge Gym. The match follows a preceding women's match, and is scheduled to get underway at 8:00 p.m.

MEN'S VOLLEYBALL:

1.            Alberta (4-0) / 259 (25) / 1
2.            McMaster (3-0) / 232 (1) / 2
3.            TWU (4-0) / 214 (1) / 3
4.            Brandon (2-2) / 179 / 4
5.            UBC (2-2) / 146 / 5
6.            Saskatchewan (0-4) / 105 / 6
7.            UNB (2-1) / 86 / 7
8.            Dalhousie (5-0) / 79 / 8
9.            Western (3-1) / 59 / 10
10.          Laval (2-2) / 38 / 9

The Marauder cross-country teams remained in their rankings of a week ago, having spent their weekend in training rather than competition with the CIS Championships looming on November 9. McMaster's men sit at no. 4 after finishing second as a team at the OUA Championships, while the women's team finds itself at no. 8 after a sixth-placed finish at the conference meet.

Fresh off of sweeps of their opening-weekend schedules, the McMaster basketball teams gained points in the CIS top-ten polls, but were left just short of cracking the rankings.
